Did You Know? I Beg to Differ

I don't know about you but I tend to take quotes differently than a lot of people.  I rarely take them at face value and I also feel that there are always a lot of exceptions to them.

How do you perceive quotes?

I am careful not to throw out a quote that is supposed to encourage someone when they are in the pits because it often makes them feel worse.

NO WI-FI? NO PROBLEM!

NO WI-FI?  NO PROBLEM!

This is the first time I will be involved in the A - Z Blogging Challenge and I certainly have been looking forward to it.  I have met so many wonderful people during the short time I have been blogging and especially during challenges - and look forward to a lot of insight about many soon-to-be new friends.

No Wi-Fi? @BatteredHope

Within seconds of signing up for this challenge, I knew what my theme would be.  I asked a few friends what I should blog about in this challenge and all of them just looked at me as if I just landed from outer space and was asking directions.   It was hands down, no question about it -- DOGS.  But not just dogs, OUR dogs.  We have had enough of these family members to fill up this daily challenge.

Arrested, But Why?

The silence was deafening.  The only sounds I heard were coming from inside my head.  I could hear the blood rushing through my veins from the palpitations of my heart.  My sweater was moving to the uneven rhythm.

I had to keep telling myself to remain calm.  I must be very careful not to appear flustered or guilty.  I tried taking deep breaths to slow down the pace of my heart which took every ounce of my strength and fortitude.  I grabbed my knees with both hands in an effort to stop them from shaking.  But that didn't seem to help, and fear prevented me from thinking rationally.

One Woman Can Make a Difference

I have been thinking of women in general and all the contributions to various aspects of society by influential women around the world.  I thought about women who had made an impact on my life; as a child, a young woman and midlife.

I realized I needed to focus on one woman who had a great influence on my life for over three decades.

Strange......But True

The two lane road was narrow with many curves.  The logging truck was approaching my car swiftly just as its two huge front tires disengaged and rolled towards me with deadly speed.

Within seconds of hitting my windshield, they separated and went down either side of my truck, leaving us in shock.

Unbelievable, but true.

Our challenge for Write Tribe today was a new one for me.  Write a story in exactly 55 words. _________________

A Man I Did Not Know But Will Never Forget

"81 YEAR OLD MAN IS KILLED WHILE RIDING HIS BIKE"

That was the headline in the small town's newspaper.  It really says very little and the normal response would be something to the effect that he lived a good life and probably didn't suffer as his death was on impact.

Allow me to tell you about this incredible, out of the ordinary 81-year-old man.

Write a Review

Write a review about a book you love.  Write a review or discuss a book you love in detail.  That is the assignment!

I have read this book many times.  Sometimes I have read one chapter over and over and each time I read it I try to read it from a different perspective.

I read it to get a general feeling about the story.  Then I would read it to see how it flowed. Then I tried reading it from various points of views.  I would read it from a man's point of view, from a woman's point of view and then from a young woman's point.  Each time, I would get something more out of it.  Almost each time I would laugh and cry and feel the emotion of each chapter.

I Ain't Dead Yet

Looking at my little Dachshund today, I can't believe he is getting so old.  It was just yesterday when he was a puppy.  He will be 18 years old this year and I know it won't be long before we will have to say good-bye.

I Ain't Dead Yet

In the evenings, he is pretty stiff.  When I ask him if he wants to go outside he just looks at me as if to say, "You're kidding, right?  I was just getting comfortable."
