Can You Solve Any of These 9 Mysteries?

PLEASE.  HELP.  I need answers and possibly you have the right ones!  Most of us wonder about 'stuff' and never really get a proper answer.  I am hoping you can help me answer some of the things I have not been able to figure out.

1.  Why do people have those "Baby on Board" stickers on the rear window of their car?  One argument for the sign is that in case of an accident, paramedics would be alerted that there is a child in the car.  Another one is to warn drivers not to drive too closely to the vehicle with a child inside.

baby in car badge
Poppycock!  First of all, if the paramedics are depending on a sticker on the rear window to tell them whether or not there is a child on board, that is pathetic.  What if the sticker is there but the child stayed home?  Will they keep looking until they find the child?

Secondly, it has been proven that bumper stickers of any type cause people to drive closer to the car in front of them so they can READ the sticker.

Arrested, But Why?

The silence was deafening.  The only sounds I heard were coming from inside my head.  I could hear the blood rushing through my veins from the palpitations of my heart.  My sweater was moving to the uneven rhythm.

I had to keep telling myself to remain calm.  I must be very careful not to appear flustered or guilty.  I tried taking deep breaths to slow down the pace of my heart which took every ounce of my strength and fortitude.  I grabbed my knees with both hands in an effort to stop them from shaking.  But that didn't seem to help, and fear prevented me from thinking rationally.

Strange......But True

The two lane road was narrow with many curves.  The logging truck was approaching my car swiftly just as its two huge front tires disengaged and rolled towards me with deadly speed.

Within seconds of hitting my windshield, they separated and went down either side of my truck, leaving us in shock.

Unbelievable, but true.

Our challenge for Write Tribe today was a new one for me.  Write a story in exactly 55 words. _________________

Write a Review

Write a review about a book you love.  Write a review or discuss a book you love in detail.  That is the assignment!

I have read this book many times.  Sometimes I have read one chapter over and over and each time I read it I try to read it from a different perspective.

I read it to get a general feeling about the story.  Then I would read it to see how it flowed. Then I tried reading it from various points of views.  I would read it from a man's point of view, from a woman's point of view and then from a young woman's point.  Each time, I would get something more out of it.  Almost each time I would laugh and cry and feel the emotion of each chapter.

Defying All Laws of Nature

The old man glanced at the gas gauge and realized it would be touch and go if he could make it to the service station before running out of fuel.

@BatteredHope Unbelievable miracle while traveling
How can this be happening?

Unfortunately, the inevitable happened and that awful sputtering forced him to pull over to the side of the road.  He didn't know how his age and disability would allow him to walk the three miles to the closest station.  Breathing a silent prayer and taking a moment to consider his options, it happened.

I Was Being Followed But By What?

I exhaled slowly.  I was trying to slow down my heart rate but fear had its grip on me.

“Breathe.....”

I was being followed but by what? @BatteredHope

“Breathe...”  I kept telling myself.  “Slowly......breathe.”

It seemed to work and I tried to keep my thoughts focused on where I was headed and not be concerned about what was following me.  Or was I just imaging it?  The noise was a definite crackling sound, like footsteps breaking branches.  I couldn't turn around.  I had to keep going forward.

Wednesday Prompt - Is Life A Jigsaw puzzle?

For our Wednesday Prompt we were given the following quote:

“Life is like a jigsaw puzzle, you have to see the whole picture, then put it together piece by piece!”

Is that possible?  Are we able to see life as the whole picture?  I know that we would like to and often see our ideal life ahead of us.  How often does that actually turn out the way we have visualized or hoped?
On the other hand, we must see our life this way in order to plan and set our goals to accomplish what we hope to have happen.  We must learn to take each 'piece' as it comes and work at making it fit into the big picture.
Sometimes we have pieces that won't fit or we wonder why they were ever put into the puzzle box.  But every piece has a purpose, a reason, for being there.  If we take the time to keep focused on the big picture, it will all fit together in the end.

How Can A Dream Turn Into A Nightmare?

It was 1972 and I was given the opportunity to accompany my fiance on one of his many trips to South Africa for business.  I was thrilled.  My brother and his family had been living in South Africa since the early 1950's and I was so excited to be able to see where they lived and to visit my nephews.

A DREAM COME TRUE

We were planning on doing sight-seeing and had a special photographer's camera that looked more like a rifle than a camera.  As we exited the plane, custom officials pulled us aside and took us into an interrogation room and did a strip search because of the 'weapon' we were carrying.  I was terrified.  My fiance, Paul, finally convinced them it was a camera and we were released.

ONE MORE CHALLENGE, ONE MORE TRAUMA, ONE MORE SET BACK - BUT ALWAYS VICTORIOUS

CHAPTER TWO

It was a warm, bright spring day.  I was walking towards my car on the way home from work and was unaware that I was being followed.  Without warning, a leather gloved hand was over my mouth.  It had an indiscernible taste and smell.  Two more hands grabbed my arms and twisted them behind me.  Another gloved hand covered my eyes.  I thought I was going to die from fright.  I almost passed out in fear and tried to scream and kick but couldn't break free from the hold.  I kept wondering how many were holding me.  One of them was tying a blindfold over my eyes and I was pushed into my car.
