What Do You Do When You Are Blindsided and Can't See A Solution?

Three going on....?
"Have you noticed how much happier everyone is this time of year?"  Someone asked me that the other day and frankly, I was a bit shocked.

I witness the opposite each year. Maybe it is because we are in retail business and people are regularly complaining -- not enough time or money to do what they need to do.  In general, people are impatient and grumpier than the rest of the year - hands down.

Stress is over the top for many people at Christmas time. Personally, I find this time of year relaxing as I am prepared at least a month or two in advance. My goal is to have all the gifts wrapped and baking done by November.

Normally we travel to see the grands and spend Christmas with them. This year we will not see them until January which means we don't have to travel during busy times avoiding hours of waiting for a spot on the ferries.

Two different sets of friends have invited us for turkey dinner on separate days -- so maybe that is why I am not stressed? I don't have to cook!

On another level, this past month has been more disturbing than I could have imagined. I spent a few hours every day for the past two and a half weeks straightening out a mess in our business that blindsided us. It is still not resolved. But worrying about it will not change anything.

No matter what I go through on a daily, weekly, monthly or yearly basis - I try not to allow it to rob my joy. Some days that seems impossible but worth the effort to maintain a positive attitude.

My heart aches for friends who have lost love, family, or health this past year. I do know life can change in an instant - and that goes both ways.

When I focus on the good and hope for the best in every area, I am encouraged to bank on that instead of my current woes.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A VERY HAPPY AND PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR

For those of you who struggle with depression during the holidays, please find something to laugh about - and find someone who can use a smile or a hug.  We do not have to look far to realize how blessed we truly are and there are others hurting more than us.

This is a Fly on the Wall post where we can have a sneak peek into other bloggers' homes -- you will enjoy each one as they share what is happening in their neck of the woods.

  1. I remember from my days in retail that it's the retail workers many people find as a good target to release their stress. You're so right to be done by November, lessening your own stress. Hope you get that issue worked out soon, though.

    1. I wonder why, Karen? Actually why does anyone need to take their stress out on anyone else, right?
