When you live a crazy life, you should expect crazy things to happen. When you keep doing the same thing over and over and expect different results, you are the crazy one. I constantly look to the future when life will get easier, slow down a bit and then laugh out loud when I realize that may never happen.
To explain: I have a lot of jobs, often wearing three or four hats at the same time on any given day. This is normal for a Type A personality who is a perfectionist and believes that relaxing or sleeping is a complete waste of time. Don't give me any lectures -- I've heard them all. Most important thing: I am NOT complaining. I love being busy.
Consequently, the thought of doing this month's Fly on the Wall post seemed a bit overwhelming because so much happened in the past two months and it would be a really
l o n g post to share it all.
One highlight I will share with you is that I attended the Advanced Writers and Speakers Conference in Cincinnati and look forward to going back next year. I learned so much in the workshops, made some incredible connections, made, even more, friends and got to see what it is like to live in 97-degree heat with high humidity.
Our days were filled from early morning to late evening without time to shop or have any 'me' time -- loved it. I certainly was not bored for one second.
I left the hotel each day to get to the closest restaurant - that was enough heat to last me until next year. How do people live, work or BREATHE in that?
Sooooooooo........rather than bore you with all the incredible things that happened the last two months, I decided to do some snippets of the grandkids and their antics.
William (4 yr) and Aubrie (3 months) attended a wedding and I was surprised to see William in this photo - NOT smiling. He loves to be in pics and always has a big smile. A few days later he shared why.
He was playing with several kids at the reception and there were two boys, 8 and 9 years old, who were pushing the little kids around, calling them names and pulling the little girls' hair. This is always difficult for William to deal with as he is kind and respectful of his friends and adores his little sister. Hence, the look on his face in this picture.
Finally, he had enough and told his mom about it. Then he had an idea and said, "I'll be right back Mom."
Moments later he came back to Rochelle's table with a big grin on his face and announced, "They won't be bothering the little kids anymore."
Apparently, he warned the big kids to stop and when they didn't, he gave one of them a hard kick where the sun does not shine which sent the kid onto his back, crying in pain.
He got the high five from this gramma and papa. There is one language a bully understands and that is his own. The mothers of the boys were probably upset but if they knew what was good for them, they would not say one word to Rochelle. And they didn't.
A few days later, William announced he is now married. He asked his girlfriend and she said "Yes." (Both moms smile and shake their heads.) He also announced that he knew it was his job to protect his wife and take care of her.
After deep thought he asked his mom,"Mom, how can I be a better husband? And can I have one of your rings to give to her?" Rochelle told him to talk to Papa as he probably has one in his store that would fit her. It will be interesting to see if he follows through.
Every. Single. Day. William begs to hold his little sister. No matter what he is doing if she cries he runs to her aide. He talks to her and plays with her without ever tiring.
William was trying to ride his dirt bike and still hold onto his sister's hand. How wonderful it would be if all children, people, and nations would have this deep devotion to each other.
Two of Rochelle's dogs were attacked by a porcupine. Can you imagine how much this would hurt?
And the
cutest and
funniest for last:
Aubrie started crawling at four months -- can't even begin to imagine how busy she will be when she starts walking. At this rate, that could be anytime soon.

I was holding Aubrie and got the giggles. She often has this wide-eyed look on her face. I tried to explain to Rochelle what was so funny but couldn't stop laughing.
When Rochelle was a little girl she had a Cabbage Patch doll -- her favorite. Now, many years later, that little doll has come to life. We took a shot of the two of them -- TWINS!
