Are You A Victim or A Victor? The Choice is Yours

The definition of Victor is:  One who defeats an adversary; the winner in a fight, battle, contest, or struggle.

The definition of Victim is:  One who is deceived or cheated, by his or her own emotions or ignorance, or by the dishonesty of others.

@BatteredHope  Victim or Victor

Many of us were cheated and abused and hurt and taken advantage of by others.  It is essential that we determine not to allow our emotions to overrule our intelligence.  A wise man once told me "When you buy the thought, you buy the lie!"  We must learn to say NO to negative thoughts, to defeatist ideas, to martyr attitudes.  The more you do it, the better you get at it.

One Surprising Life Lesson in Integrity and Courage

A story worth remembering and thinking about......

A successful businessman was growing old and knew it was time to choose a successor to take over the business.  Instead of choosing one of his Directors or his children, he decided to do something different and called all the young executives in his company together.

He said "It is time for me to step down and choose the next CEO.  I have decided to choose one of you."  The young executives were shocked as the boss continued.  "I am going to give each one of you a seed today.  This is one very SPECIAL seed.  I want you to plant the seed, water it, and come back here one year from today with what you have grown from this seed.  I will then judge the plants that you bring, and the one I choose will be the next CEO."

7 Deadly Sins To Ensure People Won't Follow Your Blog

Your opinion please?  As most bloggers, I read numerous blog posts a day.   When setting up my blog, I did hours of research to determine what works and what doesn't work.  Even though I was new to the blogging world, I quickly recognized 7 Deadly Sins that would make me X out and go to the next blog.

There is so much information in social media venues that tell us what NOT to do and what we SHOULD be doing.  The more blogs I read, the more evident it becomes, as to what works and what doesn't.

When Pushed Out of Your Comfort Zone, How Do You React?

Did you ever force yourself out of your comfort zone in hope of reaching your intended goal, but terrified you might fall flat on your face? Sometimes we are pushed out of that zone by someone we love.

My mother-in-law's mission was to motivate me to start a business selling desserts to restaurants. It was an incredible idea but I had never done anything remotely close to that and didn't know where to begin.

6 Tools To Keep Your Reader's Attention

All of us wrote essays in school. Many of us took various forms of creative writing classes. Most of us like to write and all of us would like to improve. If you want to write, there is an abundance of information available to help you.

@BatteredHope 6 tools to keep your readers attention

1.  DO YOUR RESEARCH. The crazy thing is, I did my research about creative writing after I published my memoir last year. I certainly do NOT recommend it, but I was totally unaware of the help available in blogosphere before I had completed the book.  I was terrified when I started reading all the blogs about what to do and what not to do.  I imagined I had done everything wrong and was more than shocked when I discovered that almost all the advice that was given, I had done.  I had applied common sense, one of our senses that has our best interest at heart!

10 Best Excuses Not To Do Something

I'm a workaholic so excuses are not in my vocabulary.  When I hear excuses, I have to bite my tongue so that I do not offend someone; most excuses are pretty lame.  Here are some of my favorites.

@BatteredHope Are you tired of hearing or giving excuses?

10.  I don't have time.  Each of us has the same amount of time in any given day.  It is up to us to use it wisely or choose to waste it.  Here's a secret how to have time to do what you need to do.

10 Ways to Guarantee You Do NOT Make a Sale

Let's talk. There is a lot of information available on how to sell your merchandise. You can take a course, read a book, do research on-line. What I want to address here is how to be sure you don't sell. I am referring to the face-to-face or one-on-one sales approach.

Whether you are selling a car or a bottle of vitamins, certain things you do will help guarantee you do not make the sale. It has been said that trying to sell yourself is not as important as selling your product. Hogwash! Selling is ALL about selling yourself. Here is how to guarantee you DON'T sell. Think about it!

Afraid to Speak in Public? Two Secrets to Success

Public Speaking.   Speaking in Public.  Speaking to a large group of people. Speaking to a room full of your peers. There is an old adage that says some people fear public speaking more than death.

Speaking in public is my passion.  Motivating and inspiring people to do more, be more, laugh more, love more, and live better is the greatest reward.  Many people have a lot to share but are afraid to do it in a pubic forum. Two things that I have learned come from experience -- not a textbook or a public speaking course.  Master these two and your fears will be short-lived.

Never Give Up Hope - Guest Post

cor
When Corinne Rodrigues, blogger, writer, motivator,  asked me to guest post on her blog, Everyday Gyaan, I was honored.  I met her through a blogging challenge at Write Tribe less than a year ago.  She has graciously taught this novice various aspects of blogging with a lot of patience on her part.  She started the blog at Write tribe to motivate and support her fellow bloggers and writers.  I know you will benefit by connecting with her blogs.

Thank you, Corinne, for this opportunity.

Here is the guest post I did on her blog:   Never Give Up Hope

Over the course of ten years of writing my memoir, I struggled to find the perfect title.  The message I wanted to convey to my readers was that it did not matter what you have gone through, there is always the expectancy that tomorrow will be a better day.  I received a lot of title suggestions from family and friends but nothing seemed to click until my daughter was designing the book cover and suggested 'Battered Hope.'  The more I thought about it, the more I liked it.  I realized it told my entire story in two words.
