"Why?" you ask. "What's to like?" I answer. Click here to read 10 Reasons to Skip Summer or....5 Reasons Why I hate Spring.
Before you start screaming at me about how crazy and delusional I may be, read my reasons and you may even agree with some of them.
But, I digress. Let's talk about Autumn. I love this time of year. The dreaded summer has passed, winter is close at hand (YAY) and it is time to wear clothes again. Real clothes. Sweaters. Long sleeves. Pants. And jackets. Dark colors instead of pastels. YES!
I realize we (hubby and me) are a bit weird. Living on the West coast of America is perfect for us. We ALMOST never turn the heat on in our home. When it is really blistering cold outside -- well, it rarely gets too cold in this climate -- we turn on the fireplace in the morning and maybe keep it on for a few hours. But come early evening, it gets turned off and we sleep with windows open and a fan on to keep the air flowing. Of course, this is much healthier and provides for a better sleep.
Don't Laugh - I've Considered It |
We struggle when we have to keep the heat on for dinner guests. Most people realize they need blankets (KIDDING!) when they visit here and that is with our heat turned on for them! I know it takes some getting used to, but so much healthier than stagnating heat.
I take an electric fan with me to every hotel or home I may be staying in -- sleeping without air flow is claustrophobic. Anyone agree with me?
Is there anything more beautiful than that first harvest moon in October? It shouts out to me promising all the wonderful vegetables for canning and freezing them for our enjoyment the rest of the year.
One of my favorite memories is the first day back to school. It is a day full of promises and new beginnings. Here's William (grandson) who is only 4 years old but is in school full time, five days a week. He's so excited about that and all his after school activities; karate, swimming and hockey. Gone are the lazy days of summer!
What about your memories of Autumm? Do you have great memories of Halloween parties, football games, school plays, and recitals? And what about those late night parties around a campfire? I am always flooded with fond memories when I watch the leaves change color, knowing that cooler weather brings much more pleasure.
Let's exercise our brains a bit along with our imagination and think of all the incredible things there are to love about Autumn. Or are you all lovers of heat and summer?
Here's my list of 16 things I love about Autumn --
