We were planning a cross country move and it was not possible to take her with us. We gave her to my sister and I asked her to tell me what she remembers about Quincy and this is what she shared:
Quincy was the sweetest dog ever!
She may have been small in stature but she had a big heart. She loved everyone and even allowed our pet parakeet to sit on the top of her head and not even flinch. She was a very happy, carefree dog.
She had a very strong sense of our schedule. She knew what time of day my husband was returning from work. She would jump on the sofa watching out the window knowing he would be there shortly. The same way she knew that every Sunday morning we had a class in our home and, without being told, she would run into the bedroom. It was the only day of the week she did that.
In her later years she developed epilepsy and often had spasms. It was difficult to watch and very scary. Eventually we knew we would have to put her to sleep but we never had to make that decision. One morning when we let her outside, she saw a dog on the other side of the street. She darted across the street and was killed instantly by a car. It broke our hearts but we knew her time would have come soon. Now she was free from her pain.
