Are You Sitting on the Fence?

Decision time

Are you a black and white kind of person? All or nothing?  Or are you easily influenced and possibly can have your mind changed regarding your 'convictions?'

In many ways, I am black and white - all or nothing.  However, I have learned that being this way may not allow for change and one could become quite close-minded.  Take food for example. I love or hate.  Rarely is there a middle ground.  I enjoy cooking and will try new recipes but they must pass the love or hate test and I will not make them again if they fall into the 'like' category.

I have strong principles regarding my ethics, morals and the way I treat people.  I work diligently at not judging others at face value but choose to look beneath the surface and find out why they may do or say things I do not necessarily agree with.

3 Life Lessons You'll Never Forget

Biting my tongue, I tried not to cry. The man on the other end of the telephone was breathing heavily and sporadically. When the seconds between each breath lasted too long, terror ran through my veins.

I needed more time. I needed him to breathe normally. I needed HIM. But the time had come. It was his time to leave.

I could tell by his breathing pattern how my words were affecting him. When the breaths came rapidly, I knew he was becoming emotional. When they were slower, it meant he was calmer.

I told him how much I loved him; how much I appreciated my heritage and the ethics he instilled in me. I thanked him for putting up with my incessant babbling when I got excited.  I reminded him how he would offer me 25 cents to be quiet for five minutes when I was a little girl. I felt him smile inside.

Are You A Victim or A Victor? The Choice is Yours

The definition of Victor is:  One who defeats an adversary; the winner in a fight, battle, contest, or struggle.

The definition of Victim is:  One who is deceived or cheated, by his or her own emotions or ignorance, or by the dishonesty of others.

@BatteredHope  Victim or Victor

Many of us were cheated and abused and hurt and taken advantage of by others.  It is essential that we determine not to allow our emotions to overrule our intelligence.  A wise man once told me "When you buy the thought, you buy the lie!"  We must learn to say NO to negative thoughts, to defeatist ideas, to martyr attitudes.  The more you do it, the better you get at it.
