Dogs - N is for New Addition Chiweenie

Lola.  Lola is definitely in a category by herself.  Remember Lily the Intimidator?  Lily is Lola's mom.    When Miniature Dachshunds and Chihuahuas mate, the offspring are called Chiweenies.     Apparently the worst characteristics of both breeds come out in the offspring.

Lily and Louie had 3 puppies.  Two of the puppies went to the same home and Lola was left behind.  We fell in love with Lola and kept her.  The best words to describe her are mentally challenged and weird.  Lola doesn't like most people or other dogs.

We enrolled her into obedience school with other puppy owners.  It was "Pass the Puppy Around Day."  We warned everyone that Lola didn't like other people and should not be passed around the room.  They laughed and agreed to "sign" a waiver in case she bit them.  Sure enough, she bit three people in the circle -- this tiny, cute, sweet puppy with an ATTITUDE.  In later years, we discovered that she does not hear or see very well and it might have been a contributing factor.  We were shocked that she GRADUATED and got her diploma!

She is nine years old now and in her entire life, we have never seen her play.  She does not play with other dogs or people.  She doesn't chase anything, doesn't chew anything, doesn't play with anything.  However, she adores her Grandma (me) and Grandpa and would snuggle with us forever.  No one has ever figured her out.

She is the most obedient in our entire clan of eight dogs and that is her salvation.  She aims to please.  She lives life in her own little world and if there was ever a dog that could talk, it should be Lola.  What do you think?  Would a doggie psychiatrist help?

Regardless of her shortcomings, she is loved dearly and she knows it.
